2 Weeks

We have survived our first two weeks! James had a Dr appt yesterday and he was 6 lbs 14 oz. so he is growing well and looks healthy all around. He is such a sweet little guy and we love him more and more each day. He is a little sleepy guy and spends most of his time sleeping and eating. I guess you could say he is a typical newborn!
He is sleeping pretty well at night, but I have been letting him sleep with me because I was so tired, so today we begin his "sleeping in the crib" training. This is one area that I have not mastered with my other 3 children (it took me 4 years to get my first two sleeping through the night-yes 4 years!!!) so any advice or suggestions are very welcome!
Here are some pics of our little guy at two weeks:One of our nieces, Monica, made this little hat for James...it's so cute! Thanks, Monica! He had a bubble bath this morning with too many bubbles! He kept getting them all over his face and sucking them up his nose. He's just so squirmy! Sorry James!

So sweet--I love his fuzzy little newborn head.

For sleeping, The Baby Whisperer is my favorite--there's a couple different books that cover the technique, but the best part is the message boards online where you can get pretty immediate support. I've made awesome friends from all the time I spent (cause I was another one with sleep issues with my two). And its such a middle-ground theory--I tend to lean a little more on the attachment parenting side of BW, but I am proud of the fact that I did teach Abe to sleep in his crib for naps and when he hit that magic age of 6 months, he turned into the most awesome napper ever. Nights, whole other story, but I try not to think about that ;)

Happiest Baby on the Block is another great one for the first few months--I like those ideas more in the beginning.

He's so cute and teeny! I love the hat pictures. And the monkey outfit. And the one of the other kids with him on the blanket. Good luck with the sleeping. I'm not the best at that.

Oh, poor little guy will be smelling bubbles forever after snorting them! I'm glad you all are doing well with this transition! How's Dylan doing with it all?

Poppy you all look so cute! I loved happiest baby on the block. But seriously make his bed/crib the place he likes to sleep. Make your bed yours and Danny's of course. Sleep is everything when you feel like you are losing your mind in mommy land.

Poppy and Danny--he's beautiful! I am a terrible blog writer and reader, but when I heard that your baby had come, I just had to read up about him and you. I'm so happy to hear that everything went well (after what happened last time especially)! Good luck as you all settle in as a family.

P.S. Poppy, you look like a million bucks in that "just had a baby" picture. Amazing!!!!
