Just a little project.

I was tired of having kid projects, art supplies and homework all over my dining table and floor and decided that the kids needed their own space for such activities. So...

I started with an empty nook: Added a few scrap pieces of lumber and some paint:Then finished off with a custom shelf, some empty cans, construction paper, cork board and voila, a place for everything and everything in it's place...I plan to get some matching chairs or stools, but am finding kid-sized chairs rather expensive, so I may need to whip something up myself.

The kids love their little spot and even ask to do their homework. I'm sure that won't last long, but I will enjoy it while it does.

Now...let's see if we can keep it this way!

I love it! You are so good at doing projects and stuff like this - it looks awesome. I love the colored cans with supplies. It definitely makes you want to sit down and create something.

This blog is pretty cool. I bet you could find some plans to make your own chairs.

That is a cool idea. I need something like that. My kids' stuff is always all over my kitchen table.

That looks so great! Do they actually leave the things in the cans? That's my biggest problem with putting their supplies out where they can get to them--then they are all over the house, and if they involve writing implements, then Abe writes on the walls and furniture.

For chairs--do you have IKEA? They have pretty good deals, and ours have held up really well. Also thrift stores--I found an old bench/foot stool to refinish that works perfectly at our kid height table.

Wow! I am so impressed. Can you make one for me? Have you checked Ikea for cheap stools?
James is adorable! He is still not sleeping through the night??? Let me have a crack at it..I'll whip him into shape. My kids get to cry it out in the night if they wake up...I need my beauty sleep! Maybe it is because he is so teeny tiny! Lately Ruby has been waking up THIRSTY so we finally just put a drink in her bed and it fixed the problem! Good luck with James, he is lucky he is so cute!!
