Question of the day?

So...do I exercise and come home and flop down and do nothing else all day or do I not exercise and actually have the energy and strength to clean my house, do laundry, etc?

One of the things I was looking forward to when Grace and Jess went back to school was getting out and exercising. I was actually planning on getting up at 6am and getting out for a walk/jog by myself before the kids got up and Danny left for work, however, Danny was called as an early morning seminary teacher and leaves the house at 5:45am each day. 6am was going to be challenging enough, so there was no way I was going to be able to do 5am! Those plans went out the window, but I came up with another plan. Dyl, James and I walk the big kids to the bus at 8:30 and then we would continue the trek. I found a really good loop just above my street that is great for interval training (it goes up and down hill a few times). So for the last 3 days, we have done just that. It felt good to get out and get physical, but I am so exhausted when I get home that I just can't get motivated to get anything else done. And to top it all off, I did lunges this morning...Curse you lunges!! I'm not going overboard with the whole exercise thing, I'm just trying to be a little more healthy, but then my domestic duties suffer....What's a girl to do???

I have the same problem. So my solution is to exercise at night. I've been doing pretty good too (if you don't count the last week). I go on a jog or a bike ride between 7-8 pm at night. Then I'm exhausted and ready to hop into bed and wake up with energy! It is hard to make myself do it, but I told Kyle he has to force me to go. One week I did 5 nights! But I just shoot for 3 or 4. Good luck!

If I leave after 8:30 it is a very short bike/jog because the bugs around here are ferocious! The Dragon flies are HUGE and they hit me in the head and it hurts! I just make sure Ruby is down for the night and Kyle is usually in the middle of putting the boys to sleep...i didn't know Danny is a seminary teacher! Kyle had to do that for couple of years in Chicago...oh what fun:)

i say domestic duties are overrated. hahaha. i'm not the best one to ask this question, because i hate doing housework regardless. i'm getting a treadmill for the house, so that once another baby is here, i can just try and squeeze in whatever exercise i can whenever i can. we'll see how well that goes. :)

I am the same way. I got workout then I feel like ok... I'm done for the day. But it will get better the more you do it. Can't believe Danny got called to be a seminary teacher. Wow!

It's been two years since I could call myself fit, but the last time I got in shape after a baby I faced the same dilema. The good news is that after a month or so you won't be so beat after you exercise, your body will slowly adjust. Keep with it.

I felt the same way last year when I would walk my kids to school, then take the dog on a long walk. Just take it slow at first and take half the loop and build up to walking the whole loop over time, so you are not so worn out. Good job on getting going despite the many other pulls for your time and energy.

I am very proud of you. I have had the same problem scheduling my exercise around CG's work.

The kids look so grown up and cute in there school picture.

I know what you mean! I didn't exercise at all this summer (except walks to the pool), and I had all these grand plans to start exercising nice and early every morning once school starts, but that is tomorrow, and all of a sudden I am feeling overwhelmed that I might actually have to start. My favorite is yoga, because I actually don't feel worn out at all afterwards, and it keeps me in good shape, but it just takes so darn long, I always put it off.
